Following the Special Mention received last May at the Albert Serratosa National Awards for Urban Planning and Territory, the Vía Verde de la Cantera in Alicante has once again been recognised, this time as the winning project in the 18th FOPA Awards 2026, in the category of “Best Integration into its Surroundings, Sustainability and Respect for the Environment.”
For all of us, it is particularly rewarding not only to see the project recognised once again for its environmental values and landscape integration, but above all for having transformed a disused piece of infrastructure into a new landmark public space for the city, promoting active mobility, strengthening the connection between Postiguet and Albufereta, and encouraging public use of Alicante’s coastline.
