The Challenge
The AL-3106 is a busy mixed-use road — trucks, cars, cyclists, pedestrians and e-scooter users all sharing infrastructure that was not built for them. Níjar City Council, working with the Almería Provincial Council, set out to fix that: a new roundabout at Camino de los Garridos and a dedicated cycle-pedestrian lane linking Campohermoso and Vistabella.
What We Did
Two focused interventions:
Iinvestment €827,198.43, financed through EU NextGeneration funds under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

What We Did
Two focused interventions:
- Intersection Upgrade: — a new roundabout at Camino de los Garridos, eliminating the dangerous merging conditions for heavy vehicles.
- Active mobility connection — a shared cycle-pedestrian path between Campohermoso and Vistabella, plus upgraded street lighting and widened footways.
