Background
As part of its ongoing commitment to improving road safety and sustainable mobility, the Níjar City Council (Almería), in coordination with the Almería Provincial Council, has undertaken a strategic infrastructure project on the AL-3106 road. The initiative includes the construction of a roundabout at the intersection with Camino de los Garridos and the development of a cycle-pedestrian lane connecting the towns of Campohermoso and Vistabella.
This branch of the AL-3106 serves as a key link between Campohermoso, Níjar, and the A-7 motorway. It supports a high volume of traffic, including heavy goods vehicles, private cars, and a growing number of pedestrians, cyclists, and users of personal mobility vehicles. However, the previous infrastructure did not meet the necessary safety standards for these diverse users.
Scope of Work
The project involved two main interventions:

Scope of Work
The project involved two main interventions:
- Intersection Upgrade: Redesign of the junction with Camino de los Garridos, as a new roundabout to eliminate traffic issues, particularly for heavy vehicles merging onto the main road.
- Cycle-Pedestrian Connectivity: Construction of a shared-use path linking Campohermoso and Vistabella, complemented by enhanced street lighting and the widening of existing pedestrian walkways.
