The Rivas Vaciamadrid´s City Council has submitted to the Directorate-General for Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid the initial design project to cover the Metro Line 9B, as part of its RIVAS HORIZONTE initiative, developed by the SSS ARCHITECTS team, following their winning proposal in the Ideas Competition for defining strategies to cover the Line 9 as it passes through Rivas Vaciamadrid.
The project proposes the covering of 2.5 km of the current surface alignment between the stations of Rivas Urbanizaciones and Rivas Futura, with the intention to eliminate the existing urban barrier and to create a 30‑metre‑wide green corridor that will enhance connectivity, reduce environmental impacts, and provide new public spaces. The intervention will extend the Linear Park from the Cerro del Telégrafo Sports Centre and also considers the potential incorporation of a fourth Metro station on José Saramago Street.
