The cycle-pedestrian footbridge over the Rambla de las Eras in Níjar is entering its final stage. The steel structure is now in pre-assembly — the last major step before the crossing that connects San Isidro and Campohermoso becomes a reality.
Composite slab concreting and load tests are next. Opening is expected in April.
When open, the bridge will give more than 18,000 residents of San Isidro and Campohermoso — along with countless agricultural workers from across Campo de Níjar — a safe, continuous route away from road traffic. Fewer accidents. Cleaner mobility.
This footbridge was one of the final projects of our dear friend and colleague Juan Francisco Moyá Soriano — PhD in Civil Engineering and professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València. His design is restrained in form, respectful of the landscape, and profound in its impact on the community. A reminder that the best engineering solves problems quietly, and changes lives loudly.
