Road Infrastructure Reconstruction
in Gestalgar (Valencia)
EXECUTION PERIOD
TOTAL INVESTMENT (VAT INCLUDED)
BACKGROUND
On 29 October 2024, an Isolated High‑Level Depression (DANA) caused severe damage to several road infrastructures in the municipality of Gestalgar, particularly in areas close to the Turia River.
The affected infrastructures, which are municipally owned, are essential for mobility and the socio‑economic development of the area. Given the inability of local authorities to carry out the necessary works, the Valencian Regional Government (Generalitat Valenciana) authorised, through Decree‑Law 11/2024, the execution of emergency actions aimed at restoring the functionality of these infrastructures.
Description of the Works
The works carried out included the reconstruction of several damaged road sections and structures, as detailed below:
• EDAR Road / Southern Ring Road: Reconstruction of 550 metres of urban roadway, including paving works, sidewalks and public street‑lighting installations.
• EDAR Road Ford: Replacement of the destroyed crossing with a set of five prefabricated concrete box culverts, enabling crossing over the Turia River with a width of 4.50 m and a length of 14.50 m.
• Hydroelectric Power Plant Road: Repair of the Morenillo bridge over the Gabaldón ravine, reconstruction of a 235‑metre road section, and extension of the access ford to the hydroelectric power plant to a total length of 29 metres, in order to adapt it to the new riverbed conditions.
