In year 1994 Seguras river channeling works concluded from the dam of La Contraparada to the mouth, inside of the General Plan Against River Floods executed by the Segura Hydrographic Confederation.However, the natural cycle of erosion and river floodings, have made needed to built additional works in order to stabilize the slopes in the sector between Murcia and the town of Beniel.

The works have included:

  • Slope stabilization in 12 kms length, with rock fill and bolsters
  • 4 new acces ramps to the river for the maintenance machinery and trucks
  • Improvement of the roads next to the margins of the river
  • Total area planted with native plants: 14.500 m2
  • Total length fo bolsters built: 500 ml
  • 18 work areas along the river in the Murcia province.
